
Communications Technician
Job Description
- This position involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of low voltage cabling infrastructure at an experienced, leadership level
Duties and Responsibilities
- Successfully lead and execute a diverse range of projects involving premise twisted pair copper, fiber optic, and low voltage infrastructure in Commercial and Industrial settings
- Perform and manage daily job tasks while supervising others
- Install and troubleshoot various types of media and systems not limited to: Cat6, Cat6A, Single and Multi-Mode Fiber Optics, Physical Security (access control and CCTV), and Audio Visual cabling, connectivity and devices
- Complete and maintain job related documentation (i.e. Drawings, work orders and test results)
- Communicate effectively with Co-workers, Customers, Project Managers, and other trades
- Practical safeguarding of all personnel and property from hazards
- This position requires a highly detailed, timely individual with complex problem solving skills
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Communications Infrastructure experience
- Knowledge of Telecom systems, Data Networks, Wireless solutions, Access Control, and CCTV systems
- Proficiency of current cabling installation, termination, and testing procedures along with the use of associated hardware and testing equipment
- Fiber optic experience of termination, testing, splicing, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge and application capability of EIA/TIA standards
- Ability to read and comprehend engineered drawings and technical specifications
- BICSI Certification preferred/not required
- Industry Certifications a plus
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Bluebeam
Work Hours
- Hours are typically Monday through Friday
- Hours are typically 1st shift
Work Conditions
- Typically working on a variety of worksites ranging from new construction to working Data Centers
- Potential for working in hot and cold environments
