Automation Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities
- Customer and colleague interaction and collaboration on projects of all types and sizes
- System design, specification, documentation, programming, testing, and commissioning
- Maintain customer relationships and identify sales opportunities
- Programming in multiple platforms including Rockwell Automation, Siemens, etc., experience programming DCS systems, such as Delta V, is desired
- Create or edit electrical schematic drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
- Be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Create or edit technical documents, i.e. functional specifications, validation processes, bid scopes, etc.
- Minimal travel is possible, but not typical
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or engineering technology or equivalent experience
- At least 5 or more years of practical experience working with the design, programming, and implementation of industrial controls and automation
- 5 or more years of process control experience is a plus
- Proficiency with Rockwell Automation’s full suite of products is required
- Practical experience working with other industrial automation platforms
- Practical knowledge of and experience working with local codes and standards associated with electrical, machine, and safety
- Ability to self-manage workload and schedules
- Practical knowledge of Ethernet network design, implementation, configuration, segmentation, and routing
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Excellent computer skills including Windows operating systems, Microsoft suite, and VMware Workstation
- Practical experience and knowledge of Windows Server, SQL, VMware’s vSphere is desired
